On December 10, 2024, San Antonio Police Officer William Kasberg died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Harlandale Independent School District facility in San Antonio, Texas. Initially reported as an accidental discharge, further investigation by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office and SAPD determined the death to be a suicide. At the time of his death, Officer Kasberg was under criminal investigation by the Rockport Police Department for allegedly recording a minor without consent at a Rockport motel. The San Antonio Police Department is conducting an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
