On 12/17/2024, at approximately 6:00 PM, an off-duty Wayne County Sheriff's deputy and his two daughters were involved in a fatal vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 67 near Silva, Missouri. The deputy's vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of the deputy and his daughters. The driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
