On 12/16/2024, at approximately 4:00 PM, Detention Officer Isaiah Patrick Bias, 28, was fatally assaulted by inmate Arron Semeion Thompson at the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie, Texas. The incident occurred as Officer Bias was returning Thompson to his cell after his allotted out-of-cell time. Thompson, who was previously incarcerated on charges including assaulting a public servant, has been charged with capital murder following the attack. Officer Bias, a six-year veteran of the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, was pronounced dead at the scene.
