Event : Corrections officer killed by inmate assault
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On December 25, 2024, at approximately 7: 15 a.m., Corrections Officer Andrew Lansing was assaulted by inmate Rashawn Cannon at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, Ohio. Officer Lansing sustained fatal injuries from the attack and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Inmate Cannon, serving time for felonious assault and weapon charges, has since been transferred to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the incident.
