OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On February 1, 2025, U.S. Capitol Police Recruit Officer Christopher Katz, 22, was killed in a car crash in Brunswick, Georgia. Katz and five other recruits were off duty during their training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center when their Jeep Wrangler was struck by a Ford Escape that failed to yield while turning left into Morningstar Marina. The collision caused the Jeep to overturn, ejecting Katz and two others. Katz succumbed to his injuries several hours later. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.
