OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On February 23, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, Deputy Martin Shields Jr. of the Hinds County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Midway Road in Terry, Mississippi. Upon arrival, an exchange of gunfire occurred, during which Deputy Shields sustained fatal injuries. A male individual was also found deceased inside the residence; his identity and cause of death have not been disclosed. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an inquiry into the incident.
