OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 9, 2025, Correctional Officer David Hilburger, 53, was found deceased in his state housing unit at Groveland Correctional Facility after failing to report for duty. A wellness check was conducted, and he was discovered in his room. The New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association called Hilburger’s passing “tragic” and stated they would continue to monitor the ongoing investigation.
