On May 5, 2025, at approximately 1:27 p.m., Lt. Allen "Noochie" Credeur of the Rayne Police Department was fatally shot by friendly fire while executing a search warrant related to a recent stabbing incident on East Harrop Street in Rayne, Louisiana. During the operation, an officer's service weapon discharged, striking Lt. Credeur. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Louisiana State Police are leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
