On June 2, 2025, a male officer with the Upper Providence Township Police Department died by suicide in the parking lot of the township campus on the 1200 block of Black Rock Road. The department stated there was no danger to the public. The station was closed June 3 to allow officers to grieve. Officers from nearby jurisdictions handled patrols temporarily. The officer's name has not been released. The department thanked the community for its support.
