Officer Miguel Cano, 34, with the California Highway Patrol, died on July 2, 2025, in Culver City after suffering a medical emergency while driving a patrol SUV. The vehicle veered off Bristol Parkway near Green Valley Circle and struck a tree. Cano was transported to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His partner and a handcuffed civilian in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
