Detective Victor Lemus was one of three deputies killed during an explosion involving military-grade ordnance. He was a 24-year veteran of LASD. Authorities say two grenades had been recovered from a Santa Monica apartment, but only one detonated. The second grenade is unaccounted for, and a federal investigation is underway.
