Miguel López Cuen, 35, a former California Highway Patrol officer, is believed to have killed his wife earlier that morning in Garden Grove, Orange County. He then drove to Stockton, where he shot and critically injured Robert Nelson Jr. at the CrossFit gym. López Cuen was found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities have labeled the incident a murder-suicide, and Stockton and Garden Grove police are coordinating the investigation across multiple jurisdictions.
