OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Deputy Ming, a nine‑year veteran of the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office, responded with KCKPD to assist a woman moving out of a home at the 2600 block of South 30th Street around 3:45 p.m. A male occupant inside the residence fired multiple rounds, striking Deputy Ming. Officers returned fire but he died from his injuries at a hospital later that evening. The man barricaded himself for nearly two hours, then surrendered and was taken into custody. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is overseeing the case.
