OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/17/2025, just before 11:00 p.m., Enid Police responded to a domestic disturbance and traced the suspect’s vehicle to INTEGRIS Health Enid Hospital. The suspect opened fire on officers outside the emergency entrance and then moved inside the hospital, firing multiple rounds. Hospital security officer J.W. Bode, 72, a retired probation and parole officer with five years of hospital service, confronted the suspect and was shot and killed. Enid Police entered the hospital, engaged the gunman, and fatally shot him. No other staff, patients, or officers were injured. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
