OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On October 1, 2025, off‐duty Anderson County detective Mark Garrett was riding his motorcycle along Anderson Drive near Beaver Dam Road in Williamston. A vehicle attempting a left turn collided with the motorcycle’s passenger side. Garrett was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Douglas H. Lueck, was arrested and charged with felony DUI resulting in death. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
