OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 11/06/2025, Albuquerque Police Department officer Dominic Castro was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside his home on Piñon Trail in Cedar Crest, New Mexico. Deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office had arrived to serve an arrest warrant related to multiple domestic violence charges, including kidnapping, sexual assault, false imprisonment, and child abuse. A woman and child had earlier escaped the home and reported the incident to school staff. After a brief standoff, deputies entered and discovered Castro deceased. No deputies fired their weapons.
