On 12/27/2025, Atlanta Police Department investigator Kevin Stroner, 56, was found dead inside a home on Cooledge Avenue NE near Piedmont Park during a welfare check conducted by police after someone requested officers check on the occupants. Both Stroner and another adult were found with gunshot wounds. Police have said this is an isolated incident and are not looking for any other people in connection with the deaths. The death was ruled a suicide within a murder/suicide scenario.
