OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/04/2026, Deputy Constable Aaron Armstrong of the Caldwell County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office was shot and killed in the parking lot of Club Rodeo in north Austin while working an off-duty security assignment. Austin police responded to reports that an officer from another agency had been shot near the intersection of North Lamar Boulevard and West Rundberg Lane. Armstrong was found with gunshot wounds and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The shooting occurred outside the nightclub during overnight hours. Police later announced an arrest in connection with the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
