OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/30/2026, Deputy Derrick Bonham of the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed while responding to a report of possible shots fired in Martin, Tennessee. Deputies were assisting the Martin Police Department with a call at the Days Inn when they encountered a vehicle leaving a nearby gas station. The driver fired shots, striking Deputy Bonham. He was transported to Volunteer Community Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
