On 02/01/2026, Nassau County police officer Patricia Espinosa was killed in a vehicle crash on Route 347 at Alexander Avenue in Saint James, New York. Espinosa was off duty at the time of the collision. Authorities described the crash as violent and reported that the driver of the other vehicle crossed into Espinosa’s lane. The other driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Espinosa was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
