OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/01/2026, Gwinnett County Police Officers Pradeep Tamang and David M. Reed responded to a fraud-related call at a Holiday Inn Express in Stone Mountain, Georgia. While inside a hotel room speaking with a man, the man produced a handgun and fired at the officers. Officer Tamang was mortally wounded and later died from his injuries at a hospital; Corporal Reed was also shot and remains in serious but stable condition. The sman was wounded and taken into custody. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation.
