OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/18/2026, Ronnie C. McIntire, 86, made a 911 call reporting a fire in the kitchen area of his home on North Meade Street in Appleton. Fire crews arrived and saw smoke coming from the roof of the residence. McIntire was removed from the house during firefighting and search efforts and was treated on scene. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. McIntire served for 36 years with the Appleton Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant, and continued serving the community as a school crossing guard after retirement. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and reported that smoke alarms were not sounding at the home when firefighters responded.
