OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/17/2025, Detective Edward “Mark” Baker of the Northern York County Regional Police Department was killed in the line of duty in North Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania. Baker and fellow detectives were serving an arrest warrant at a residence on Haar Road when an individual inside fired an AR-15-style rifle at officers entering the home. Baker and two colleagues—Detective Isaiah D. Emenheiser and Detective Sergeant Cody Becker—were struck and killed in the exchange. Two other law enforcement officers were wounded before the shooter was engaged and killed by responding officers. The warrant service was connected to a domestic incident and stalking investigation at the address.
Prior Notable Incidents:
Baker had been recognized for prior on-duty actions, including a 2008 incident in which he assisted in extracting victims from a wrecked vehicle following a crash, for which he received a Lifesaving Award.
