Former Yakima SRO officer Elias Huizar had stabbed his ex-girlfriend and ex-wife to death and abducted his 1-year-old son in Salem. Police located him in Oregon when he made an ATM transaction and police identified his license plates as being stolen. Police escalated a chase up to speeds of 110 mph. A PIT maneuver was carried out with Huizar and the toddler in the vehicle at high speeds. The top cop from the Oregon State Police, Superintendent Casey Codding and others had joined the chase.
Police attacked the vehicle with PIT maneuvers twice and both times, Huizar was able to recover and flee again. When he stopped for the third time, he engaged in a shootout with police and ultimately committed suicide under police duress. His son was found unharmed in the backseat.
SRO Officer Huizar had also been under investigation for inappropriate relationships with minors in the past with charges of inappropriate relationships with underage girls on at least 2 occasions. His girlfriend whom he also killed was 17 years old. He had been in a relationship with her since she was in sixth grade and he was an SRO at her school, engaging in sex during school hours with her. His ex-wife had also been a minor when he initiated the relationship with her. Both girls bore him children. When the sexual assault against minors allegations became known, he was removed from the Yakima middle school and placed in yet another school, this time as substitute teacher at Franklin Middle School.
When a third 16-year-old girl made statements that she had also been molested, Huizar seemingly snapped, killed his ex-wife, his live-in underage girlfriend and fled, ultimately leading to a prolonged police chase and suicide under police duress.

Even when it became known that he had raped at least 2 underage girls and one of them bore his child, he was merely fired from Yakima PD and rehired by the school where he remained, this time as substitute teacher, while not being incarcerated while awaiting his trial and living with the girl who was now 17 and their 1-year-old son.
He had been due in court for child rape for having impregnated the schoolgirl and also for raping her underage friend, when he went on a homicide spree, killing his ex-wife in front of their 9-year-old son and killing his 17-year-old live-in girlfriend. These deaths are not listed individually on this database because they occurred before police became involved in the fatal chase ending in the suicide of Huizar.
After killing his ex-wife and teenage girlfriend, Huizar fled, was chased by police and caught on the I-5 near Eugene, Oregon where he fled and ran into a commercial vehicle. When police approached the vehicle, he committed suicide under police duress. He had the 1-year-old boy he had stolen from his ex-wife with him when he died.
