The Los Angeles County District Attorney charged him with three felony counts of resisting an executive officer, one felony count of battery with injury on a peace officer, and three misdemeanor counts related to unlawfully carrying firearms in public. He pled not guilty and was released on conditions including relinquishing firearms and attending alcohol counseling. If convicted, he faced up to seven years in prison.

The suspect opened fire on officers outside the emergency entrance and then moved inside the hospital, firing multiple rounds. Hospital security officer J.W. Bode, 72, a retired probation and parole officer with five years of hospital service, confronted the man and was shot and killed. Enid Police entered the hospital, engaged the gunman, and fatally shot him. No other staff, patients, or officers were injured. Deputies responded to a shooting around 3:00 p.m. on Cole Thomas Road just outside McComb. Investigators determined that Clay Paulk forced entry into a home, shot McComb Police Sgt. Jason Blake and wounded Nicki Wilson, then fatally shot himself. Wilson survived. Deputies found Paulk’s vehicle abandoned nearby. Sgt. Blake had worked in law enforcement for about 16 years, including 5 years with the McComb Police Department. The Pike County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.

On or around August 3, 2025, New Jersey State Trooper Ricardo Santos shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Semanchik, 33, and her new boyfriend, Tyler Webb, 29, inside her Franklin Township home. Santos then drove to Johnson Park in Piscataway and fatally shot himself. Semanchik, a veterinarian, had allegedly tried to get a restraining order due to harassment by Santos, but it was not granted. Santos had previously served on the executive protection detail for Governors Phil Murphy and Chris Christie. The incident is under investigation by Hunterdon County authorities

The shooter, who was reportedly armed with multiple weapons, killed three others and injured several more before being neutralized.
