On 09/17/2025, Senior Police Officer Alex D. Roberts of the Houston Police Department was killed in the line of duty in Anderson County, Texas, while conducting a traffic escort on his assigned police motorcycle. At approximately 4:20 p.m., Roberts was struck by another vehicle while accompanying an oversize load as part of his duties with the Traffic Enforcement Division’s Solo Motorcycle Detail. He was transported for medical care but died from injuries sustained in the crash. Roberts joined the Houston Police Department in May 2010 and had been assigned to the Solo Motorcycle Detail, which performs freeway patrol, traffic escorts, dignitary motorcades, and related duties under the Traffic Enforcement Division. The Texas Department of Public Safety and Anderson County law enforcement are investigating the collision.
