OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/26/2025, Daniel Weston Sherrer, a 31-year-old deputy with the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office in Marengo, Ohio, was killed in the line of duty when he was shot while responding to a reported domestic situation at a home on County Road 26. Sherrer arrived at the location in the evening and was struck by gunfire during the encounter. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Another responding officer wounded the suspect during the exchange and the suspect was taken into custody. Sherrer had served with the Sheriff’s Office since March 2021.
