On 06/16/2025, a man driving a pickup truck intentionally rammed into the motorcycle of Sergeant Caleb Eisworth on Greenwell Springs Road in Baton Rouge. Deputies responded to a shooting around 3:00 p.m. on Cole Thomas Road just outside McComb. Investigators determined that Clay Paulk forced entry into a home, shot McComb Police Sgt. On or around August 3, 2025, New Jersey State Trooper Ricardo Santos shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Semanchik, 33, and her new boyfriend, Tyler Webb, 29, inside her Franklin Township home. Santos then drove to Johnson Park in Piscataway and fatally shot himself. On 06/27/2025, around 9:28 p.m., Deputy Brandon Gaede, 30, with the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a report of illegal fireworks at a residence on 1st Street in Phillipsburg, Kansas. While attempting to arrest 27-year-old Kolton Griffith, a struggle broke out. Griffith produced a concealed handgun and shot Deputy Gaede. Gaede returned fire, killing Griffith. Deputy Gaede was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.

On 06/27/2025 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Wilkes County deputy, Johnathan Andrew Laws, 34, was driving a 2018 Nissan Altima southbound on Red White and Blue Road when it was struck head-on by a northbound 2003 Jeep Liberty that crossed the center line. Laws was airlifted to a hospital but died from his injuries.

LAPD Sergeant Shiou Deng, 53, was fatally struck by a vehicle on the southbound 405 Freeway near Getty Center Drive around 2:00 a.m. He had stopped to assist with a prior two-vehicle crash and activated his emergency lights. After exiting his vehicle, he was hit by a third vehicle and later died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. A civilian involved in the original crash also died. Authorities closed southbound lanes of the 405 for nearly 10 hours.

On Sunday morning, June 22, 2025 at approximately 5:58 a.m., off‑duty Trenton Police Officer Timothy Long was involved in a single‑vehicle crash on northbound I‑295 near mile marker 45 in Westampton Township, Burlington County. His vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a traffic sign and a tree, and caught fire. Officer Long sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Long served 25 years with the Trenton Police Department and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Flags in Trenton have been lowered in his honor, and the New Jersey State Police is investigating the crash.

On June 22, 2025, Sgt. Beverly Rodriguez, 40, of the Metro Transit Police Department, was found dead in White Bear Lake after going overboard from a pontoon boat while off duty. The incident occurred near the east side of the lake around 2:27 p.m. Emergency responders arrived on scene and recovered her body approximately 40 minutes later. She was transported to Regions Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating. Rodriguez served since 2017 and led the Metro Transit Homeless Action Team, where she was known for her compassionate work with the unhoused.
