OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/29/2023, Sergeant Marc Andrew McIntyre, age 55, with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed while responding to a welfare check and domestic disturbance call on Vineyard Road near Deason Street in Griffin, Georgia. McIntyre was a U.S. Army veteran and served with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office since 2015, including assignments on the SWAT team. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported he was struck by gunfire from a resident at the scene and later died from his injuries. A suspect was taken into custody and charged with murder.
