On 12/27/2023, Nassau County Police Detective Lieutenant Christopher A. Cizmarik, age 57, died after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer attributed to his work at the World Trade Center site following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Cizmarik served with the Nassau County Police Department since his appointment on 07/24/1992 and was honored posthumously by fellow officers and community leaders, including a street dedication in his memory in Syosset.
