On 09/04/2023, Governmental Affairs Liaison Michael Elaine Griffin, age 62, with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety died at the scene of a vehicle crash on Highway 6 near Batesville, Panola County, Mississippi after he stopped to assist at a two-vehicle collision. While checking on a driver involved in the crash, a vehicle shifted and rolled onto him, causing fatal injuries. Griffin was a retired Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper with 34 years of service and continued serving with DPS as a sworn law enforcement officer and liaison.
