OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/06/2022, Shelby Township Police Officer Daniel Alan Kammerzell was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop on 23 Mile Road in Shelby Township, Michigan. During the stop, a man inside the vehicle opened fire, striking Kammerzell. Responding officers located him with critical injuries. He was transported for medical treatment and later died from his injuries. Kammerzell had served with the Shelby Township Police Department for approximately five years.
