On 05/26/2022, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Cody Allen Olafson was shot and killed during a traffic stop near Williston, North Dakota. Authorities reported that during the stop, a man opened fire, striking Olafson. Responding agents located him with critical injuries. He was transported for medical treatment and later died from his injuries. Olafson had served with U.S. Customs and Border Protection under the Department of Homeland Security and was 33 years old at the time of his death.
