On 06/03/2022, Taylor County Detention Center Deputy Jailer Mark Allen Pike died from a self inflicted gunshot wound in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Authorities reported that Pike was off duty at the time of his death. He had served with the Taylor County Detention Center and was 45 years old. His death was officially classified as a suicide.

Officer Adrian Lopez was shot and killed during a traffic stop on East Fork Road in Whiteriver, Arizona, at about 7:10 pm.

An altercation occurred between Officer Lopez and the driver during which Officer Lopez was fatally shot. The subject then stole Officer Lopez's patrol vehicle and fled the scene with other White Mountain Apache Police in pursuit. The pursuit traveled almost 40 miles before officers and the subject exchanged shots near Hawley Lake, during which another officer was wounded and the subject was killed.

Police tried to traffic-stop a man for unknown reason. He refused to stop and police engaged in a local speed chase. When they stopped him, they claim that he produced a gun. Police shot and killed him. When they went to his home to notify next of kin, they found his wife Kyline Avey, 41, who was a lieutenant correctional officer for the county. She was dead in the woods from multiple gunshot wounds.

An Alabama inmate named Casey White was helped to flee by a correctional officer named Vicky White (no relation). They were on the run together for a week when US Marshals in Evansville, IL found them and ran their vehicle into them deliberately. Vicky White committed suicide under police duress while Casey White was arrested and transported to prison again.

On 05/09/2022, Warrington Township Police Officer Stephen Charles Plum Jr. was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Route 611 in Warrington Township, Pennsylvania. Edward Wilkins was a popular social media figure and dog walker for the dog business of a local cop’s wife. When the 35-year-old wife began an affair with Wilkins and her cop veteran husband found out, he tracked the pair to a hotel and when they emerged for lunch, he fired 16 bullets into Wilkins, killing him. He then reloaded and committed suicide.
