Former Mobile Police officer Robert Harris, was an inmate who resigned in March after being put under investigation for allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a minor. On June 10, Harris was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail after he was tased, shot at and crashed his car into a convenience store.

On 06/15/2022, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement Deportation Officer Brian Wayne Turner was shot and killed while transporting a detained individual on Interstate 95 near Florence, South Carolina. Authorities reported that during the transport, the detained individual gained control of a firearm and shot Turner. Responding officers located Turner with critical injuries. He was transported for medical treatment and later died from his injuries. Turner had served with ICE for several years and was 46 years old at the time of his death.

On 06/03/2022, Taylor County Detention Center Deputy Jailer Mark Allen Pike died from a self inflicted gunshot wound in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Authorities reported that Pike was off duty at the time of his death. He had served with the Taylor County Detention Center and was 45 years old. His death was officially classified as a suicide.

Officer Adrian Lopez was shot and killed during a traffic stop on East Fork Road in Whiteriver, Arizona, at about 7:10 pm.

An altercation occurred between Officer Lopez and the driver during which Officer Lopez was fatally shot. The subject then stole Officer Lopez's patrol vehicle and fled the scene with other White Mountain Apache Police in pursuit. The pursuit traveled almost 40 miles before officers and the subject exchanged shots near Hawley Lake, during which another officer was wounded and the subject was killed.

Police tried to traffic-stop a man for unknown reason. He refused to stop and police engaged in a local speed chase. When they stopped him, they claim that he produced a gun. Police shot and killed him. When they went to his home to notify next of kin, they found his wife Kyline Avey, 41, who was a lieutenant correctional officer for the county. She was dead in the woods from multiple gunshot wounds.

On May 26, 2022, Officer Houston Ryan Tipping, a 32-year-old member of the Los Angeles Police Department, sustained a catastrophic spinal cord injury during a training exercise at the Elysian Park Police Academy in Los Angeles, California. The exercise involved grappling with another officer, during which Officer Tipping fell and suffered severe injuries. Despite immediate medical attention, including CPR administered by fellow officers and transport to a local hospital, Officer Tipping succumbed to his injuries on May 29, 2022.

Following his death, Officer Tipping's mother, Shirley Huffman, filed a wrongful death claim against the city, alleging that her son was intentionally assaulted during the training exercise. Attorney Bradley Gage, representing Huffman, claimed that Officer Tipping was involved in investigating an alleged gang rape incident involving four LAPD officers in July 2021. Gage suggested that one of the officers under investigation was present during the training exercise and that Officer Tipping was targeted in retaliation for his whistleblowing activities.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office conducted an autopsy and ruled Officer Tipping's death as accidental, attributing it to injuries sustained during the training exercise. LAPD Chief Michel Moore stated that Officer Tipping was not beaten by other officers and described the incident as a tragic accident.

An Alabama inmate named Casey White was helped to flee by a correctional officer named Vicky White (no relation). They were on the run together for a week when US Marshals in Evansville, IL found them and ran their vehicle into them deliberately. Vicky White committed suicide under police duress while Casey White was arrested and transported to prison again.

On 05/09/2022, Warrington Township Police Officer Stephen Charles Plum Jr. was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Route 611 in Warrington Township, Pennsylvania. Authorities reported that during the stop, a man opened fire, striking Plum. Responding officers located him with critical injuries and transported him for medical treatment, where he later died. Edward Wilkins was a popular social media figure and dog walker for the dog business of a local cop’s wife. When the 35-year-old wife began an affair with Wilkins and her cop veteran husband found out, he tracked the pair to a hotel and when they emerged for lunch, he fired 16 bullets into Wilkins, killing him. He then reloaded and committed suicide.

On 05/05/2022, Corporal Nicholas W Tullier of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office died from complications related to injuries he sustained during an ambush attack on law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on 07/17/2016.
