On 02/24/2022, Correctional Lieutenant Steve M Taylor of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department died from complications of COVID-19 that he contracted while serving at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, California. Taylor began his service with the department on June 8, 1995, and held assignments at multiple detention facilities. He was promoted to Correctional Lieutenant in 2019. Taylor had been hospitalized after contracting COVID-19 in December 2021 and died after a prolonged illness related to the infection.
