OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 11/30/2021, Clayton County Police Officer Henry Nicholas Laxson was shot and killed while responding with other officers to a domestic violence and shooting call in the 3600 block of Jervis Court in Rex. Officers first encountered a 12-year-old boy who had been shot in the face and led them to the home. As officers approached, a man opened fire from inside and retreated; Laxson and other tactical officers later encountered him behind the home, where he opened fire again, fatally wounding Laxson and injuring another officer before officers returned fire and killed him.
