OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/01/2026, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call late at night. Deputy Michael Jimerson pursued a woman on foot. During the encounter, both exchanged gunfire. Deputies opened fire, and both Jimerson and the woman were shot. Jimerson was transported to a hospital, where he died. The woman also died. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the incident.
