On 05/26/2026, Police Officer Sandra Blair of the DeSoto Police Department died from complications of injuries she sustained in the line of duty on 04/16/2024. Officer Blair was investigating a traffic crash at the intersection of North Hampton Road and Wintergreen Road when an intoxicated driver struck her. She suffered severe head and internal injuries, multiple fractures, and later developed a seizure disorder as a result of the crash. Despite extensive treatment and rehabilitation, she succumbed to those injuries more than two years later. The driver who struck Officer Blair was arrested and convicted of intoxication assault and failure to stop and render aid.
