OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/27/2026, retired Environmental Conservation Police Officer Ronald John Bosela died from cancer caused by his exposure while serving at the World Trade Center following the terrorist attacks of 09/11/2001. Officer Bosela was assigned to Ground Zero immediately after the attacks, where he monitored National Guard operations and helped relocate the command post from the World Trade Center site to the Hudson River piers. He later developed a 9/11-related cancer linked to that exposure. Officer Bosela served with the New York State Environmental Conservation Police from 1988 until his retirement in 2008 and is survived by his wife, two sons, grandchildren, and extended family.
