OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/03/2026, Dustin Zink, 37, an off-duty Florence Police Department officer, was shot and killed by Boone County sheriff's deputies during a domestic violence response at a residence on Lely Court. Deputies responded to reports of domestic violence involving shots fired. According to Kentucky State Police, deputies encountered Zink armed with a firearm while he was threatening to harm himself and others. Four deputies fired their weapons during the encounter, fatally wounding Zink. Kentucky State Police are investigating. The names of the involved deputies have not been released.
