Atascosa deputies located a man wanted for homicide in Corpus Christi and escalated a chase. An investigator of the DA’s office together with deputies tried to stop the vehicle down Hwy 37. Police allege that he was shooting a rifle out of the window at police. Several miles later, police laid down spike strips and the vehicle stopped. Police allege that the man started shooting at them and that several officers fired shots and killed him. The man was identified as a former Nueces County Constable.
