A KSP trooper attempted a traffic stop in Hardin County on a KIA Soul near Joe Prather Parkway near I-65 but the vehicle didn't stop. Police escalated a chase reaching 100 mph when the driver made a U-turn, continuing northbound on US 31-W before running a red light near the intersection of US 31-W and Gateway Crossing Boulevard. Police said the driver then struck three vehicles in the intersection, becoming disabled and catching fire in the southbound lanes. The driver died. The condition of the people in the 3 vehicles that were hit is unknown.
