Carroll County deputy Noah Rainey and civilian sheriff's employee Dane Northcutt were driving to a backup call on Route 26 when for unknown reasons, the patrol car left the road and hit a utility pole, killing both the deputy and Dane Gregory Northcutt were killed. No other vehicles were involved. It is unknown how fast the officer was driving.
