Karen Read, 42, girlfriend of Boston police officer John O’Keefe, was allegedly drunk when she hit officer O’Keefe with her car, killing him. A Norfolk County grand jury indicted Read in June on charges of second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision causing death. Her defense team alleged that the death was caused by third parties.
