Whitfield County deputies saw a silver BMW driven by Jeffrey Thomas drive too fast and commit traffic infractions and began a high-speed chase on I-75. An officer initiated a PIT maneuver at high speeds, causing the BMW to run off the road, hit a guardrail, flip over and eject Thomas who died as a result.
