Open Records Summary :
Springfield PD responded to a check-person call and found Tymel Bowman. Police arrested him for an outstanding warrant.Policeallege he immediately resisted when officers attempted to place him in handcuffs. An officer tasered him. Bowman escaped and officers started a foot chase, caught up to him and continued to struggle with him, alleging that he attempted to pull a knife from his waistband. Additional officers arrived on the scene before he arrested was taken into custody.
While on the way to the hospital, police say Bowman stopped breathing and died. Police did not release autopsy results or BWC footage when announcing the death and none can be found on open records search.
