Christopher Pringle, 33, was reported missing while visiting Port St. Lucie from Texas. Based upon the missing person report, St. Lucie Police first located him on the highway and placed stop sticks. He drove on and police escalated a hunt with reportedly dozens of police, a helicopter, drones when police found him in his van inside of a shopping mall. When police found him by pinging his cell phone, a SWAT standoff was started by police who also locked down the mall. Police brought a Lenco BearCat. They shattered the windows of his van and threw in flashbang grenades. Chemical agents were used and he was heard coughing inside.
Finally, Christopher Pringle committed suicide under the prolonged intense police attacks. Police stated that he was not sought in connection with any crime but rather that this was a missing person case that was for unclear reasons carried out very aggressively with him fleeing the police onslaught and eventually leading to his death. His family stated that he had been depressed and was an all around positive person. Police state the only weapon he had on him was a homemade .22. He was not reported to have threatened or harmed anyone.

A mother and son leaving a Dollar Tree parking lot died when a police chase crashed into them. Two hours after the crash, the officer driving had been taken to the hospital, and a man named Michael Hawkins was found in the backseat of the police vehicle. Police initially did not know who he is and how he had gotten into the police car. The police vehicle was reported to be speeding excessively without lights or sirens.
The man in the backseat who was identified as Michael Hawkins was paralyzed from this crash. A lawsuit for this injury was filed against the city. His caretaker had called 911 because of his unusual behavior and he was led to the police car. Police still have not explained why he was in the back of the police car when it sped off on an unrelated call, crashed, killed 2 people and injured Hawkins who was not discovered injured in the police vehicle until hours later. Police are not allowed to take a second call while they have not completed the call they are on and the officer was obligated not to chase the second vehicle but conclude the first call which would have prevented the 2 fatalities and caused Mr. Hawkins to be paralyzed from the waist down and remain on life support as of 07/17/2024, the time of this update.

Event : Teenager killed by police during mental health crisis

Gabriel McNutt was visiting his grandparents’ house with his parents when he suffered a mental health crisis. His parents state that this had been happening to him for some time and he was not given adequate mental health support. They called 911 and asked police for help getting him treatment. Athens PD arrived, found him with knives and a tense4 situation ensued. Gabriel went to his grandfather’s room and got a gun. Police shot and killed him.

Under pressure of arriving police, Alexander shot and killed his mother. Alexander then locked himself in the home. Police brought SWAT and a robot was deployed to breach the house. He was found dead by a police robot in the house and is believed to have died in a shootout with SWAT

Bodycam was released later and showed that Beheler never pointed a gun and an officer without any warning fired 13 shots at him from a distance. The sheriff declared the shooting as justified.
