Tremayne Murphy
Age :45

Location : Pulaski Highway (U.S. Route 40) and Route 543
City : Belcamp
County : Harford
State : Maryland
Agency : Harford County Sheriff's Office
Officer(s) : Allen Jennings
Cause of Death : Vehicle
Event : Driver killed by police chase crash
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 06/09/2026, at approximately 3:25 p.m., Harford County Sheriff's Office Senior Deputy Allen Kennings attempted to stop 45-year-old Tremayne Murphy on Pulaski Highway in Harford County. Authorities said deputies had observed what they believed was a drug transaction on Meadwood Drive and subsequently determined that Murphy's vehicle had multiple traffic or registration violations. Kennings activated his emergency equipment to initiate the stop, and Murphy continued driving east on Route 40 while Kennings pursued him.
The pursuit continued eastbound along the heavily traveled Route 40 corridor through the Belcamp area. Newly released police video shows Kennings pursuing Murphy as other traffic remained on the roadway. The entire pursuit lasted approximately 96 seconds. Kennings, a 10-year veteran of the Harford County Sheriff's Office, was later publicly identified by Maryland's Independent Investigations Division as the deputy conducting the pursuit.
At the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Riverside Parkway/Route 543, Murphy's vehicle crashed into multiple other vehicles. The collision involved five vehicles in total and Murphy's vehicle caught fire. Murphy became trapped inside the burning vehicle and died at the scene. At least two other people involved in the collision were transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
For nearly two months after the crash, authorities did not publicly identify Murphy. On 08/07/2026, the Maryland Office of the Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division identified him as Tremayne Murphy, 45, of Edgewood and released body-worn-camera and dashboard-camera recordings documenting the pursuit and its aftermath. The video shows the extensive multi-vehicle wreckage and Murphy's vehicle engulfed in fire following the crash.
The Maryland Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division, assisted by the Maryland State Police Crash Team, is investigating the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and fatal collision.

OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/16/2026 at approximately 3:00 a.m., a Wabash Police Department officer attempted to stop a motorcycle after observing the rider disregard a red traffic signal. The rider, later identified as Sean Murray Jr., 16, of Wabash, continued riding away at a high rate of speed while the officer pursued.
Moments after the pursuit began, Murray lost control of the motorcycle on State Road 15 near County Road 1100 North. The motorcycle left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and came to rest off the road. Wabash police officers and other first responders immediately attempted lifesaving measures, but Murray was pronounced dead at the scene.
Because the fatal crash occurred during a police pursuit, the Wabash Police Department requested the Indiana State Police to conduct an independent investigation. ISP investigators processed the crash scene, documented physical evidence, interviewed witnesses, and reviewed the circumstances surrounding both the attempted traffic stop and the pursuit. The Wabash County Coroner assisted with the investigation and later confirmed Murray's identity.
I could not verify the identity of the pursuing Wabash police officer from publicly available records. I also found no public indication that Indiana State Police released the officer's name or that prosecutors announced additional findings beyond the ongoing investigation.
