On 05/29/2026, members of the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit attempted to stop a 2009 Ford Fusion for traffic violations near Hudson Avenue and Avenue D in Rochester. Tyson D. Thomas continued driving and troopers escalated a pursuit through city streets. Approximately six minutes later, troopers deployed a tire deflation device at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Seneca Parkway. Despite the damaged tires, Thomas continued south on Lake Avenue. On 05/22/2026, Salt Lake City police responded to a weapons call near 150 W. Lucy Avenue in the Ballpark neighborhood after a 911 caller reported a man was possibly suicidal, had allegedly shown a weapon to a neighbor, and was carrying a handgun in his waistband. Police said the man went back inside the residence after officers arrived. According to police, the man later exited the front door holding a firearm. Four officers opened fire, striking and killing him. His identity has not been publicly released. West Valley City police were assigned to conduct the outside investigation into the shooting.
