On 06/14/2026, Santa Ana Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of South Townsend Street after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident. Officers learned that a 16-year-old had allegedly stabbed an adult male relative, who was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Officers contacted the juvenile, later identified as Jaden Michaca, who remained armed with a knife. During the encounter, officers fired, striking Michaca. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Orange County District Attorney's Office is investigating the shooting.

On 06/14/2026, Dodge County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to River Run Dog Park in the Town of Elba after receiving reports of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance and threatening members of the public. When deputies attempted to contact the man, he opened fire, striking a deputy multiple times. The deputy sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was rescued by responding officers.
