After the driver struck an unmarked police vehicle, officers escalated a pursuit along Murfreesboro Pike. The driver entered oncoming traffic at high speed and collided with a sedan as Oluwalayomi Fadero, 23, was turning into her neighborhood. Her vehicle was pushed a significant distance into a ditch. She died from injuries caused by the crash. The driver survived and was later charged in connection with her death.

On 03/20/2026, Everett Police Department officers and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 3:00 a.m. to reports of a man firing a gun into the air near the 8700 block of 7th Avenue SE. Officers located the man and attempted to negotiate and de-escalate. Police said the man continued moving toward officers. Officers deployed multiple tasers, which were ineffective. Officers then opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital, where he died. Authorities have not clarified whether he fired toward officers or how many officers discharged their weapons.

Shatique Cato, 34, fired multiple rounds and struck a police officer, causing injuries. Officers established a response perimeter as the situation escalated. During the encounter, Cato shot himself.
