Officers located 25-year-old Alexander Lamorie outside the building holding a knife. Police said Lamorie walked toward officers and ignored repeated commands to drop the knife. Officers Joel Rodriguez, Cody Bostic, and PFC Joseph Riebau fired their weapons, striking Lamorie. He died at the scene. Lamorie was a resident of the Patuxent Commons building and had autism, according to statements from his family, who said they were shocked and seeking answers about the circumstances of the encounter.
The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division opened an investigation into the fatal police shooting. On 03/01/2026, deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ladson Road and Jamison Road in Ladson, South Carolina after receiving a report of a wanted individual.
